About Us

HOW WE MET

Kevin and I actually met in the year 2000 through some friends who are brother & sister (Alex & Erica Lovera). We frequently hungout at the Lovera home in Savage throughout high school, and then in college we hangout in the same crowd a lot, going to the same parties (ie. at the Roehning's & Drink Til U Sink-a-palooza) but always dated other people, never being single at the same time. But after having our eye on each other for a couple years, we finally decided to give it a whirl Memorial Weekend 2007. After a night of Kevin having people over at his house in Shakopee, Kevin called me the next day to say I had left my swimsuit at his house and he would like to meet for lunch so he could return it....which led to our first date being lunch at Major’s in Bloomington. We have honestly been inseparable ever since. We did hit a few rough patches during our 2nd year of dating, the normal growing up phase and learning how to communicate. At that point we realized how strong our love truly was and how we so perfectly even each other out :)

A BIT ABOUT US

**Kevin Christopher Raasch, born 12.19.82, grew up in Savage, MN where he attended and graduated from Burnsville High School in 2001. He went on to attend MN State University Mankato graduating with a bachelor degree in Construction Management. For 6½ years now, Kevin works as a Project Manager for Olympic Companies in Minnetonka.

Kevin loves sports. He grew up playing baseball, and then enjoyed playing in a men’s softball league after high school. He LOVES the Twins. His favorite player is Michael Cuddyer. He also loves politics...but please don’t get into any political convo's or it might last all night! Kevin also loves music. Mostly country, although one of his favorite bands is Eve6.... he pretty much likes any genre. He is a huge fan of Eric Church! He loves "finding"/hearing new artists.

Kevin is a thinker. He is very hardworking, determined and creative. There is nothing he cannot do. He likes to build things and figure out new ways of doing things. He has a list (in his head) of things he should invent. He had always wanted to build his own house...and with the help of Michelle, they did it together. He took on a lot of the work himself and he is now already fantasizing about the next house he would like to build. His goal is to build and sell and build and sell until he no longer has a mortgage payment. Kevin has many great life goals. He also wants to open his own construction business someday, and retire early :)

In his free time, Kevin loves being outdoors. Doing yard work, having a bonfire, walking the dog or just sitting on the driveway -with a beer and listening to music- watching the sun go down. Kevin also loves being at the cabin and boating on the lake. He also has a couple hobbies. He is beginning to love fishing and hunting. Kevin recently went fishing in Canada with his Dad and uncle and had a blast! This fall/winter he also begin pheasant hunting with his brother and co-workers. His new pup, yellow British lab-Colbie went through a 10 week bird/gun/obedience training last spring and is the best dog ever. She really is a natural! Together they make a great team. Another hobby Kevin has is brewing beer. Hops, yeast, CO2 and fermenting are words Michelle hears a lot. The process takes only a few weeks and then he bottles it. Kevin always enjoys tasting all different kinds of beers!

Lastly, Kevin is a funny, loving, motivated man who cannot wait to get married and start a family. Colbie is sick of being an only child :)

**Michelle Lynn (Hasbrouck) Raasch, born 1.22.85, grew up in Burnsville, MN where she attended and graduated from Burnsville High School in 2003. She went on to attend St. Cloud State University, then transferred to the University of MN-Twin Cities, and graduated with a bachelor degree in K-6 Elementary Education with specialty in 5-8 Middle School Mathematics. With the economy downfall and all the teacher cuts....she decided to look for other career opportunities. As of September 2010, Michelle works as an Electronic Lock Sales at Floyd Total Security in Bloomington. She specializes in selling a new card access product from Spain called Salto. She gets to travel a little here and there, as her customers take her all over the US. She enjoys what she does, and does well at it -needless to say she is happy with the career decision she has made.

Michelle grew up playing soccer, figure skating and dance. She was on the varsity dance team her 3 years of high school and won 3 state titles. Since then she returned to her old high school and coached the junior varsity dance team for 3 years. Now she continues to love dancing but only at bars or while playing Dance Central on Xbox Kinect. Michelle also enjoys sports with Kevin. She loves football season of watching the Vikings every Sunday (even if they are always losing) and she has learned to love, what she once called a “boring” sport-Twins baseball. But of course her favorite player would be Joe Mauer. Michelle also loves music. Mostly country (Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts & Eric Church), but also loves KDWB’s newest hits (Brittney Spears, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, etc.). Kevin pretends to hate it but he often sings along to Kesha :)

Michelle is very type-A with her organization, planning and cleaning. She likes to have all her ducks in a row and know who, what, where, when, why. She knows just what she wants in life and doesn’t stop at anything to get it. She is very hardworking and determined, just like Kevin. I believe that would be one of the main things that attracted them to each other. They have very similar goals, morals and values in life, and they very much enjoy each other’s company of working side by side to get things accomplished.

When Michelle isn’t busy cleaning or organizing her life, she also loves being outdoors –working in the yard, hanging out at a bonfire, or relaxing up at the cabin with family and friends. Laying in the sun and getting super tan is usually a must for her every summer or on vacation. In her free time she loves to be crafty. A new hobby for her is sewing. Turning old baggy Tshirts/sweatshirts into some new fashionable item is something she is working on. Maybe someday she'll even be able to sew some new curtains for her new house!? Another hobby Michelle enjoys is photography. Michelle’s friends may call her a paparazzi, as she just loves taking tons of pictures to capture the moment, then to look back on and reminisce. Her and Kevin received a digital SLR as a wedding gift and she cant wait to take classes to learn all the great photography tricks.

Lastly, she loves their dog Colbie. She has many different names she likes to call her: Princess Colbies, Sweeters, Lovers, Hunnies, etc….she talks in plural but there is only one of her. Weirdo. She treats her like she is her baby. Kevin and Michelle both do. Colbie is pretty spoiled around their house….who knows what they will be like when they have kids :)

HOW WE GOT ENGAGED

It was a gorgeous summer Saturday. Michelle was at Kevin's cousin, Heidi's, bridal shower at Kevin's parent’s house in Lakeville. Kevin was at home cleaning the house: doing the dishes, laundry and moping the hardwood floor -just the way Michelle likes it! As it got closer to 2:30pm, Kevin thought Michelle should be home soon, so he got out the ring from his hiding spot and began going over how he was going to propose. More time went by and Michelle still hadn't called to say she was on her way. Kevin grew antsy. He began pacing around the house, talking to Colbie, trying to figure out exactly how he was going to do it. He thought "Maybe I should tie it on Colbie's neck and have her bring it to her....or maybe I should do it up by the shed..." He knew he wanted to do it in or around the house they built together.

Now it was 3 o'clock. Kevin cracked open a beer to calm his nerves. Michelle called to say she was on her way home. Kevin usually dislikes how she likes to talk on the phone with him during her whole drive home, but this time he made sure to because he didn't want her to get home and be on the phone with a friend, sitting in the garage talking for hours. As Michelle pulled into their development, they got off the phone and Kevin grew extremely nervous...very excited, but he just wanted to get it over and done with.

Michelle walked into the house and Kevin came around the corner meeting her at the door. He went right up to her to gave her a hug and kiss to say "Hello". Michelle thought that was a little odd for him to greet her at the door and asked him, "What are you doing? What are you being so weird right now?" Then he reached into his pocket, kneeling down to one knee, and said, "Michelle, will you marry me?" Michelle kept saying, "Shut up, shut up, are you serious right now? Shut up..." She was so surprised and in such shock she didn't even say "Yes" right away. They hugged and kissed and moved out of the doorway, finally taking the ring out of the box and onto her finger as she finally said "YES!"
