Grandparents-to-be

Today we announced our pregnancy to our parents, because I knew I couldn’t go long without being able to talk to my mom about it...plus I am going to the cabin this weekend with them for Labor Day.

I had remembered this cute/funny episode on Full House, way back in the day when I was a huge fanatic and have seen every episode 100x) where Rebecca announced her pregnancy to Jesse.
Full House: Rock the Cradle Dinner

So I went out and bought a bunch of foods with the word “baby” in it and brought dinner over to Kevin’s parents’ house…saying we were coming over to load all of our wedding photos on to his mom’s computer. And I told my parents we had our wedding gifts for them (a photo album of all the wedding pictures – which I still plan on getting made at some point) and that I wanted to give to them together. Of course my mom was like “Why?” like why does she have to come over to Kevin’s parents house for dinner just to get the gift? So I knew she probably knew we had an announcement, but I said, “Don’t ask questions, just come!”

As we all sat down to eat, I said does anyone see a theme to this meal? They didn’t really understand…so I handed them the menu I made:

They got it right away after reading the work "Baby" but then when they opened their menu, these pictures of all the food labels saying "Baby" were inside with a note, saying "We're Having A Baby!!"

Yes, it's true...we are having a baby!

This morning I called Park Nicollet, explained I took 3 over the counter pregnancy tests and all were positive...do I need to come in and take a “real” test to confirm I truly am? The nurse said, “No, we don’t really do that anymore. The over the counter pregnancy tests are usually pretty accurate, so if you have taken a few and they are all positive, then you are pregnant…congratulations!” Again my stomach just dropped. She went on to ask my when my first day of my last period was in order to set up my first appointment, which is at 10 weeks. The doctor I wanted to see was all booked up so the earliest I could get in is Friday, September 28. What am I suppose to do until then!? What to eat to be healthy…I have so many questions! Lots of body changes and no instructions!?! Guess I will resort to my mommy friends & the internet…

I even stopped on my way home from work to buy one more brand of a pregnancy test, just to take to be sure. Yes, it is true...we are having a baby!

WE'RE PREGNANT!!

This morning the suspense was killing me, and Kev was coming home today from his trip, so before I left for work I peed on both an ovulation test strip and a pregnancy test strip. On my ovulation test strip, 2 lines showed up, both equally solid lines = positive. Okay so I am ovulating? Even though I just ovulated 2 weeks ago and I am suppose to get my period this week!? Then I read the pregnancy test…2 lines showed up, but the second one was very faint, so I assumed negative, because that's how I was use to reading my ovulation test results. I then took a picture of the strips side by side on their wrappers to show Kevin later and thought to myself, damn-it, I am not pregnant.

When he got home, I showed him the picture explaining we aren’t pregnant. As he looked at the picture closely he said, “Um, babe…I think you read this wrong. It shows if a second line shows up on the pregnancy strip, it’s positive. I think you are pregnant! Look at the result descriptions...” My stomach dropped. I responded, “WHAT!? ARE YOU SERIOUS!?” I looked at it closer. He was right! I did read it wrong. Dummy me. I was so use to always reading the ovulation test strip results, which are different, yet same brand of strips. So confusing. I just needed an electronic pregnancy test that straight up says the word “Pregnant” or not. HA! But they are like $15 each, and at the rate I figured I’d be going through them as we are trying, I didn’t buy that kind. Then I quickly ran into the bathroom and peed on two more pregnancy tests. Both POSITIVE! We were SO excited, but it was still very surreal. Kev didn’t want to believe it until I went in to the doctor and got tested.

The Baby Itch

We cannot wait to have a baby! If Kevin had it his way, we would have had one before we got married. I remember him saying during the planning, "I'd rather just have a kid than have a wedding." But I said, "Hey, you got to build a house...I want a wedding! Plus we are already doing things out of order, so lets just slow down a minute." Hahaha! So now that the wedding is behind us, we cannot wait :) I am suppose to get my period, supposedly, this Tuesday... Kevin is out of town fishing in Canada this week for work, so I am not allowed to take a pregnancy test until he gets home on Monday...

And today, one of my besties had her 2nd baby boy, Canden Scott! I went and saw them in the hospital tonight. He is so stinkin adorable...I want one!!!
