We chose a DAYCARE!!
After emailing 20+ providers and doing 4 interviews....we've chosen a daycare provider for our sweet baby girl! And it feels great to have this decision made and out of the way :) It's an in-home daycare called Safari Kids! We interviewed with them just last night and were so impressed we decided right away...plus they had many other inquiries, we didn't want to lose the opportunity. There are 2 lady's running it, Colleen & Heather - mother/daughter. They actually just opened up Jan 1, but Colleen has 20+ years of daycare experience. She ran an in home daycare when she raised her kids, then opened her own center in Chaska, and then when she sold it, she ran the preschool program at a church (actually the church Kevin grew up going to - Shepard of the Lake Lutheran Church). And the younger daughter (my age) went to the U of M, got her undergrad in Family Social Science, then got her Master's in Early Childhood Education. She taught English in Tanzania for a few months, then got pregnant, so has a 6mo old baby girl - Layla, and is getting married this summer. It's only 4 miles down the street from our house in Prior Lake (off Hwy13) and so a bus picks up for the Prior Lake School District - Five Hawks Elementary (which I subbed there many times and just loved the school and staff), although a lot can change in the next 5 years, but it is a plus! They are $175/week (or $38/day) and is open M-F 6am-6pm. Perfect! They have a huge set up, spacious, not cluttered, clean and very nice stuff. There is a whole separate space where there are pack'n'plays for naps, swings, bouncers, toys & a changing table station - you know me and organization. They have an outdoor playground (on their 8 acres) and will have a garden this summer - right up Kevin's alley, haha...we just loved everything! They only have 6 kids right now, because they just opened up, but can have 12-14, depending on ages. It's nice though because one can focus on the babies & toddlers (4 kids under age 2) and the other can work with the preschool age (8-10 kids, but some are school aged where they only come part of the day). We only have to put a one weeks deposit down to save our spot all the way out til August. We thought, this is too good to be true...we'll take it! ahhhh ~ sigh of relief :)
